Rambling Reader: 2012 Year in Review

You know, I only had one month out of 12 last year that I beat my books read by the year before. April seems to have been the only month that I out-read myself from the year before. October comes in second with my having tied the number of books read. The rest of the year? I fell short, often by MANY books. I managed to complete 95 books in 2012. Reading just wasn’t something that I was able to escape with as often as I normally do. Many reasons factored into this, and I did do a lot of academic-type reading this fall as I read articles for my…

(Not So) Rambling Reader: GAH! No time!

Internet! I have been so swamped with ALL OF THE THINGS that I have not yet had a chance to write up posts for the following books that I have read: 34 Pieces of You – Carmen Rodrigues – review Burn for Burn – Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian Scars – Cheryl Rainfield I am currently not reading anything, but I really need to start reading a textbook for a class that starts this weekend. I suppose I should get on that. =/ Trying to manage time these days is proving to be a challenge. Ugh. I don’t know when I will have time to sit down and make my…

    Rambling Reader: NYC/BEA/BBC/TAC (& other three-letter acronyms) 2012

On June 2 I flew from Montreal to New York City to attend BEA 2012 and various other Bookish Things. I have been meaning to write a post on both my blogs about my trip to NYC/BEA for a while now. Obviously I have been home for a month, and so many others have already blogged about the trip. I have this issue with being totally done with something as soon as it’s over. Leading up to the trip, it’s all I could think about or talk about. Once I was home? Done. It’s over. Move on. The thought of rehashing everything that happened while I was there and completely…

Rambling Reader: If I Could Save Time in a Bottle

Dude. Last year at this time, I’d read almost 10 books. I got 15 in for the entire month. This year I’ll be happy if I reach 10 books for January. The fact that I have 5 already read it boggling to me. Why? Well, because there doesn’t seem to be any TIME for me to read this year. There’s no time for me to do anything right now. I’m trying to cook meals (versus buying them, to save money and be healthier) I am trying to get all my work (real job) done. Traveling to work (can’t read on the bus because of severe motion sickness), chores around the…

Rambling Reader: All This Festiveness & No Blog Posts!

First of all, I needed to post something to get that questionable covered book post off the top of my page. Heh. I was tired of opening up my blog and seeing Hairy Man Chest. Bad enough I wrote about the book,  I don’t need to remind myself of it daily. =P Secondly, I have only ONE post so far this month. I haven’t read more than one bloody book so far and we’re almost halfway through December. Ugh. A lot has been going on in my life, as you well know. I’m fairly certain that my lots going on has a lot to do with my lack of reading.…
