2010 Debut Author Challenge

I suck at challenges.  I don't even think I like challenges. But you know what? There are a ton of books on this list that I already have on my wishlist and am planning on reading anyhow. And I adore Kristi, so I thought, why not "sign up" and since I'll be reading a few of these books anyhow, it'll be easy. Right? So what do I have to do?

  • The objective is to read a set number of YA (Young Adult) or MG (Middle Grade) novels from debut authors published this year.* (limited to 2010 releases only.)
  • The challenge will run from January 1, 2010- December 31, 2010.

And I think I can do this. Kristi is challenging everyone to at least 12 books. Her own list is over 100!! (I'm just impressed there are over 100 debut authors in YA/MG next year!) I keep adding new books to my list as I discover more and more. I have a couple of the debut books in my crappy town library, which is exciting because the stores near me are not carrying any of them in store! So frustrating!!

  5. The Books of Elsewhere Volume 1: The Shadows by Jacqueline West
  6. Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn
  7. The Owl Keeper by Christine Brodien-Jones - review
  8. The Witch's Alphabet by Caitlin Kittredge
  9. Mistwood by Leah Cypess - review
  10. The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff - review
  11. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken - review
  12. Beautiful Malice by Rebecca James - review
  13. Birthmarked by Caragh M. O'Brien - review
  14. Firelight by Sophie Jordan - review
  15. The Candidates (Delacroix Academy, #1) by Inara Scott - review
  16. Paranormalcy by Kiersten White - review
  17. Plain Kate by Erin Bow - review
  18. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver - review

So, let's see how I do. I don't have a ton of faith in myself, only because I have a lousy challenge track record, which is why I tend not to do them. But since more than half of those books are already on my wishlist, I figure I'm semi-safe.
