Release date: September 18, 2012Are you tired of my name dropping for SimonTeen and their event this past June? It's going to keep happening, so, um, I hope not. ;) This is yet another Book of Awesome that I received from that event and it comes out this month! My first instinct was to pass on Burn for Burn because it's a contemporary novel about girls in high school. I thought it would be typical "girls pining over boys and clothes" (which is honestly how I feel most contemps go) but then Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian said the magic word - revenge.You might not know this, but I became obsessed (in a healthy way) over ABC's new show Revenge last season. I don't even have cable anymore, I watch so little television. But I was online - legally - watching that show the day after it aired every week last season. The last time I watched a show in "real-time" was, um... maybe... wow... Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Anyhoo, I'm a big fan of revenge plots and suspense, so of course I perked up when this subject was noted.Burn for Burn is another novel told in multiple POV, just like 34 Pieces of You and I was once more suspicious of the book and my possible dislike of the story-telling. I did find the styles of narration a little too similar for me to realize which person I was reading, but for the most part, it wasn't horrible. I generally do not like the multiple POV style when I read, but I wasn't too annoyed by it in this book. ;)If I had to rate each of the three protagonists, I'd say that Kat was the one I felt more connected to than the others (and not just because of her name). Lillia second and then Mary. In fact, I sort of found Mary's story and contribution to the entire novel somewhat flat. I felt like she was the most vague of the three and I couldn't get a feel for her character. Also.. there was something weird going on there, which made me wonder if the next book will have a paranormal aspect to it? I just felt that everything about Mary was awkward from her chapters to her story.I enjoyed reading this book much more than I thought I would have. Honestly, it's not really my type of novel. I enjoyed reading about mean girls and popular boys. There is something in the writing that kept my interest up even when the subject matter might not have captured me. I think that this collaboration between Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian is a great one. And if you see the two of them together, in person, their friendship shines through and they are both so funny. The one major problem I did have with this book was the ending. I won't spoil anything, but I will tell you it sort of just... ends. I felt like it ended in the middle of a thought, or paragraph. It doesn't feel at all like a cliffhanger, but more like someone went to get a snack before ending it and then forgot they didn't end it before sending it off. ;) It's very abrupt and, I just don't feel like it was a good ending. Hmm.However, I was enjoying the book enough that I am of course anxious to read the next book - Fire With Fire - and I think that the authors are currently still writing it. HURRY UP! ;)Ooo, this trilogy is untitled, per Goodreads. I hope this means the publishers are out there thinking up a clever title for the series and aren't just going to use the first book's title. You all know how I feel about THAT. hehBurn for Burn Trilogy
