City of Souls: The Fourth Sign of the Zodiac

City of Souls: The Fourth Sign of the Zodiacby Vicki PetterssonI told my husband the other night that I was almost 6 months behind in reading the books I have bought. This book and the previous one I had bought in the summer (June-ish). At this rate, I should have the books I bought over the last month read by next summer. Yikes. In this fourth book of the Zodiac series, Joanna is trying to save the life of a young girl, one of the changelings, who is in a coma. There only seems to be 2 ways to save Li's life - either Li dies, or Joanna dies. Obviously Jo feels that there should be a Door #3 and goes looking for that door. Beneath the city, through the drain pipes or something there's a portal to another world. Midheaven. And there... well, that's where I got confused all to heck and had no idea what was going on anymore.I tried to follow the story, I really did. But I was so confused for over half of this book. This Midheaven place sucks your soul out and by the 3rd visit you're stuck there forever. Also? It's a saloon a-la-western cowboy movie. Guh?Meanwhile, there are two Tulpa's fighting it out to the death in Vegas which is causing the sky to get all scary. One is named, the other isn't. And um, the leader of the Zodiac troop is an asshat and just seems to use his team members and then toss them aside like rubbish. I don't like Warren. I am wondering if I ever did. There is betrayal, a betrayal I did not see coming. I was not happy about it. There was death, which wasn't really all that impacting. Mostly, I was just confused. And then, when things got less confusing and much more exciting? The book ends! Gah! I now have to wait for the fifth sign of the zodiac to publish. All the while.. I am not entirely sure what the fourth sign was in the end. I think it was Joanna putting someone above her? She does something that although I was not surprised that she did knowing her, was surprised that it happened because it will make book 5 so much  more interesting. I am way curious to find out what happens next. Even though I was confused for most of this book. It wasn't the writing, I think it was just me and my lack of being able to comprehend things that are complex. Like, time travel plots. I never get those. I mean... time travel always confuses me story-line-wise.I like simple things. Like vanilla cake.Zodiac Series
