destruction chronicles - holding pattern - or - they filled our crevice!
Our street is finally finished being dug up... for now. You can drive right around the crescent, however until last night you couldn't actually get onto our street from the other side since they are now digging up our cross street. But since June 13 our street has pretty much looked like this:Useable street, six-foot drop right after our tree with a no parking sign in it (because people would think they could park in a hole? Who knows.) But with the construction now on the other street we are not woken up as early in the morning, but the trucks and tractors still feel the need to drive BACKWARDS down our street while they move things around. And our street is being used as a storage facility for gravel, pipes, asphalt, wood and whatever else they feel they need to store. Frustrating while trying to navigate driving anywhere, but it'll be over soon. I hope. (Of course I refuse to even attempt any driving until this is all over. There are too many obstacles and random drops and crevices around for my liking.)So, last night when we got home I noticed they had finally filled in our crevice! (hee, that sounds odd!)
It's not at the proper level and it's not soil for planting sod or anything and there are still chunks of asphalt and cement laying around all dangerously, but at least we can't drop into a hole. Once they move off the other street I might actually attempt the car again now that this is filled in.
We also seem to have gained a new stick with orange paint on it at some point in the week. It's nowhere near as fancy as the cone we had last month, but it's nice to have a little garnish on your front lawn once in a while.I'm not sure what other street they are doing after the one next to us. I am hoping that's it for our area so that we might have water that comes from pipes rather than hoses and a paved road and driveway. I won't hold my breath though. Also, it would be nice if the mail started coming to our house now that you can get on OUR street. But alas, we still have to try and get to the random post office between 9-5 Monday-Friday. You know, when we are at WORK. Sigh.I shall not stress about it too much. We both have a 4-day weekend due to the national holiday today and Friday off tomorrow (to make it a long weekend). So we'll try and head on over to pick up the mail sometime during the day tomorrow. I have my in-laws coming over for a while as well. Busy long weekend! If it would just stop raining at night or randomly during the day I could actually stain my deck! Grr. Stupid rain.
