driveway destruction chronicles - days 2 & 3

I meant to update yesterday although I was so tired I was in bed a little after 8:30 pm and I didn't do much online when I got home. Why was I extra tired you may wonder? Well. Let me well you.At 6:40 a.m. (yes, that is A.M.) yesterday morning I was awoken by a bigass truck and construction workers who pulled up outside our home. They were VERY LOUD at a VERY EARLY time of the morning. By 7pm I had to get up and close the bedroom window in hopes that the noise would go away. The problem is our bedroom is some sort of vacuum for heat and air. The window hardly lets any air in and it's always super stuffy and warm in the room, so by closing the window I risked suffocation and sweating, but darn it all, my alarm wasn't going off until 8AM and I wanted to SLEEP.When we left to get in the car, the truck and workers were in someone else's driveway and I am glad they weren't in ours because we'd never have gotten out what with the digging and the cement and the truck in the way. When we came home there was nothing different except a mud puddle in the street that was mostly dry. So aside from the rude awakening at SIX FOURTY IN THE MORNING!!! nothing was amiss. And then we came home today, Thursday, May 6th and found this:

We have a cone! In our driveway! Warning us that  - Look Out! There Is a Hole Here! When we came home yesterday other people had cones in their driveways and in fact many of the holes had been filled in with gravel.

But today! Today we get a cone of our own! (Which I almost hit driving into the driveway this evening coming home from my parents' place.)Speaking of driving - I drove home from my parents' place! They live in another town! (For those of you who knew me growing up, it's the same house I grew up in.) Not only did I drive home from there, I even stopped at the hot dog place and parked and didn't hit any of the old fancy cars that were on display and then backed out of the space and drove the rest of the way  home! The ONLY accident? I dropped Shawn's drink off the counter at the restaurant and it splattered all over the floor, my shoes and my pants. Ugh. How embarrassing! But on the bright side I didn't get into an accident with the CAR, right?I find I have issues with stopping. As in I am never really sure how much to press on the brake. I am not horrible, but the car jerks a little more than I would like. Also it was a tight turn into the driveway and I sort of missed it a little and bumped the car up on the side of the curb. I wasn't sure about where to turn for the driveway so I have to get used to that. Who'd have ever thought that backing OUT of the driveway would be easier for me than turning into it from the right side? When we come from straight on it's easy as pie! This was a big accomplishment for me in the world of driving because I tackled a couple of intersections that make me nervous just as a passenger and when we got to the hot dog place it was PACKED in the parking lot and I started to panic, but I did it! And there were a couple of turns and streets that I have always been nervous about thinking I could never drive on them - but I did! And all that broke was a paper cup with some diet Pepsi in it and it had nothing to do with the car! *pats self on back*Maybe I CAN do this?
