endurance
I am not fastI often trail behindI go at my own paceAnd I take breaks
I no longer feel the need to keep up with othersSometimes I fall back into the insecurityOf thinking I'm too slow, or not as good as the person next to meBut then I remember that I can only do what I canAnd my own personal victories are rewarding
It might not seem like I am accomplishing muchBut I know I amI know when to pushAnd when to pull backI know my bodyAnd listen to what it needs
I won't get there in record breaking timeBut I'm not trying toI'm not the most coordinatedI'm not the fastest, strongest, or best
So what if I can't lift as much as the person beside meSo what if I can't run as fast as the person in ahead of meSo what if I progress slower than the restI'm still making progress
I am not perfectBut I get out thereAnd I give it all I canI take the time to do things rightAnd not rush through to finish first, or fastest
As I build enduranceI build confidenceConfidence to go at my own paceConfidence to accomplish my own goalsConfidence to stop when I need to stopAnd go when I need to go
I might lag behind, but I will get thereAnd when I do, I'll be happy about the journeyAnd even happier to have reached my destinationBecause I did it all on my own
