Evernight
Evernightby Claudia GrayBianca's parents took teaching jobs at the gothic Evernight Academy which forced her to attend. Her parents thought that attending this boarding school would help her broaden her horizons. Though she doesn't really fit in with the rich, glamorous crowd that walks the halls. On her first day of school, Bianca meets the dark, dangerous and handsome Lucas and she can't think of anyone else but him. Though he tries to keep her safe from the school and himself they are drawn together.I am glad I didn't really read the reviews of Stargazer which are all over the place in BlogLand right now. If I had I would not have been surprised by the middle of this book like I was. Just when I was about to decide if I was bored or not, I suddenly went "Whoa, wait, what?" But this was a "what?" in a good way, not in a Tantalize way. However I seem to have had a like-dislike relationship with the book.I disliked all characters except one - Vic - and he was only a secondary character. It's hard to get fully into a book if you don't like the people you are reading about. Not one character did anything for me other than make me think "I do not like you, Character." I disliked the overly dramatic, romantic dialogue between Bianca and Lucas all the time. I am pretty sure I would have been rolling my eyes if I had read this book as a teenager. It was a little much to be honest.BUT - I really liked the idea, the thought of Evernight Academy. I liked the plot. And this story surprised me not once but twice which is rare. Just when I thought it was going in one direction it did an about face.I am certainly going to pick up Stargazer when it's out in paperback next year as this was a nice, easy and entertaining read and I am very curious to see what happens next since the story ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger.
