first summery day

Today was gorgeous. We even spent a lot of it outside - which is a rare thing for us. We're indoor creatures 99% of the time. This time though we both felt like enjoying the abnormally warm and sunny April day. So, we took the dogs to the dog run which is nearby. The dog run we have never gone to in the 3 years of living here. I had no idea it was so huge.Annie LOVED it.I didn't get many photos that weren't just of rumps running by, but I was lucky enough to catch our Annabelly galloping across the grass while Jinx sauntered around and snuffled everything. Annie just took off when we got there (cam back when called of course, because she' a a good girl). She just loved to gallop around. They even made a couple of new friends. Annie was always the first to approach the new dogs, Jinx was so busy sniffing everything he didn't notice how MANY dogs there were. And there were a ton of them! Big ones, small ones, fluffy ones, slobbery ones! I loved it.Annie likes to go over to the larger dogs and check them out. Honestly I think she's just making sure they don't have any food that she doesn't have with them. If they sniffed Jinx (like the one above is doing) Annie had to check them out as well. She's very protective. After all Jinx is her bitch, yo.The one bad thing about this dog run is the complete lack of shade. I think it's very odd to have such a huge space with no shade for the dogs. We brought bottles of water and a bowl, but mostly the other dogs around us were drinking it, ours didn't want it (until we got to the car). Since our dogs are very susceptible to heat stroke we didn't stay too long, since it was around noon and the sun was very hot and high. We will certainly go back though, maybe an after dinner type excursion when it's not as hot and sunny.Shawn and I are easily entertained by dogs. There were a lot of dogs and they were all well watched and got along well. One of the dogs came up to my elbow. I think I could have saddled it and ridden it home. It liked me. Gave me kisses.Dogs are probably the best thing to make us smile. It's a good thing because sometimes ours drive us crazy. ;)
