Gale Force - Weather Warden Book 7

Gale Force - Weather Warden Book 7by Rachel CaineGolly, it's been ages since I finished this book and this unfinished little review has been sitting in my drafts all this time! Also, I just realized I never did post my reviews for books 4 - 6 of the Weather Warden series. Oopsie. Did you know that being a young grown up just trying to survive in the world sometimes, most times, sucks? Well it does. And the suckage keeps me from being able to blog about books as often as I would like. I shake my fist at you in consternation, life! *shake* *shake* Take that! But anyway, this is the 7th book in the Weather Warden series and I liked it a lot. (Great review start, huh? It had a great beat and you could dance to it. I give it an 8.5, Dick!) Rachel Caine didn't let us fans down with this book and I was happy.Joanne Baldwin is on vacation, after the year she's been having it is well deserved. While on this vacation with her Djinn boyfriend, David, he proposes to her. Joanne accepts however there are many forces, human and Djinn who oppose this union completely and now Joanne and David are being hunted down so that their marriage may never happen. Of course, their bliss is quickly cut short due to a horrendous earthquake in Florida and a power that neither Warden nor Djinn has ever encountered before. Once more Joanne is out there trying to save the world (starting with Florida) and trying to make it through the day without dying even once (which for her, is actually a feat!).I love Joanne and I love many of the secondary characters. I used to really like David, but I am not so sure about him anymore. I don't think I like where the author took his character, though I totally see how and why he went the way he did. The sarcasm and wit throughout the pages keeps me entertained and the action is well paced and leaves me wanting more.I am happy to have found another series that I enjoy and that is still well-written even after 7 books. Similar to J.D. Robb's Eve Dallas series, I am entertained for the entire book and can't wait for the next one to come out!*originally posted October 12, 2008.
