Eclipse (a.k.a. I honestly think the Vampire vs Werewolf thing has been done to death)
Eclipseby Stephenie MeyerOh, Stephenie Meyer, whatever have you done? I am about 70 pages into this book and all I have gotten from it is a headache and a desire to eat pasta so bad that I had to make it for dinner after reading the first 5 pages. (I might just be a little susceptible to what I read. I think I went through about 400 gallons of tea while reading the Nora Roberts trilogy set in Ireland!) And oh, I have read the reviews and no one seems happy with this novel at all. I have to admit I am not extremely eager to read it. I think I might actually put it down and start reading something else... and then go back to it. When I'm not feeling well (which sadly is often these days) I can't distract myself enough with a book that I am feeling wishy-washy about. I will try for a few more pages and see how it goes. I do have a couple of other books that I stole borrowed from Monkey's bookshelves, so I have options. Plus my mother lent me a few books as well. But this third-in-a-series book is not looking too promising. Sad, really. I loved Twilight to pieces. It was fresh. It was original. It was young angsty, but not too much and it had romance (to the level I could tolerate!). I was not as enamoured with New Moon, the author had to go and throw werewolves into the mix. ARGH! I hate when that happens. I find these books becoming way too similar to Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series, only with much less bondage and S&M. Again, so, so sad. The Anita Blake series started off so awesome and so full of promise. And then next thing you know? Major love triangle with a vampire and werewolf. *yawn* Nothing to see here, move along, move along.I don't know if I'm going to offer up a full review (not that I have been doing that all that well with the other books...) after I have finished this book, but we'll see. I do urge those of you who haven't read the books to at least pick up Twilight. It's honestly very good. And dude! The cover art is just nifty!
