In My Mailbox

So the Story Siren started this nifty weekly thing about the books she's received in her mailbox for that week. She's got some sort of IN with the Book Gods because pretty much every week she seems to receive a small library. ;) I, on the other hand, rejoice if I get a book a MONTH in my mailbox. This week was the lucky week - I received a book! Just one. But still it was one I was longing for!Wondrous Strangeby LesleyLivingston

Since the dawn of time, the Faerie have taken. . . . Now Kelley must navigate deadly Faerie treachery—and her growing feelings for Sonny—in this dazzling page-turner filled with luminous romance. For seventeen-year-old actress Kelley Winslow, faeries are just something from childhood stories. Then she meets Sonny Flannery, whose steel-gray eyes mask an equally steely determination to protect her. Sonny guards the Samhain Gate, which connects the mortal realm with the Faerie's enchanted, dangerous Otherworld. Usually kept shut by order of icy King Auberon, the Gate stands open but once a year. This year, as the time approaches when the Samhain Gate will swing wide and nightmarish Fae will fight their way into an unsuspecting human world, something different is happening . . . something wondrous and strange. And Kelley's eyes are opening not just to the Faerie that surround her but to the heritage that awaits her.

I was trying to obtain an advance copy of this book through the Harper Collins Canada First Look program, only their site seems to be messed up (still!) and at first I couldn't enter in my address properly and then once that was fixed it still told me my information was missing and couldn't be a part of this program. Boo! Hopefully the nice folks at HC Canada will have that all resolved soon. So imagine my surprise when I was contacted out of the blue by the author letting me know she heard of my problems and if I still couldn't sign up for the First Look program she would try to contact the publisher herself and see if there were copies left. And there were, apparently, because I received mine on Wednesday - which was a nice distraction when I got to my front door as I had just fallen head first out of the bus and crashed into an icy snowbank and am currently bruised from head to toe. (Yes, it was a very unpleasant day...) Through my tears of pain and frustration I saw this package in my mailbox like a beacon in the dark. So EXTRA thank yous go to Leslie Livingston for helping me cope with a very bad day! ;)(I am also 90% finished the book - as I started it last night before bed and read until the last few chapters when I fell asleep - VERY good book!)
