In my Mailbox #3
So the Story Siren started this nifty weekly thing about the books she’s received in her mailbox for that week. She’s got some sort of IN with the Book Gods because pretty much every week she seems to receive a small library. ;) I, on the other hand, rejoice if I get a book a MONTH in my mailbox. Whereas she's up to #13, I'm here at #3 and honestly, I'm surprised I was even able to do this! You see, I just got back from my amazing Disney World Birthday trip* and imagine my surprise when I went to pick up the mail from my neighbours and saw that a book had come in the mail! Well, woo! AND it wasn't even the book I thought I was going to be getting soon.
Once Bittenby Kalayna PriceBell Bridge BooksKita Nekai, on the run and the smallest of her shifter clan-a calico cat among lions and tigers-is being hunted. She was expected to accept her role as her father's successor whether or not her cat was up to the task of leading the clan. She disagreed. Now she's less than a step ahead of the hunters, bone-tired, cold, and living hand-to-mouth in the city of Haven. And that's the high point of her day. She's also drugged, "accidently" turned into a vampire, and sentenced to death for recklessly creating a rogue shifter who tortures its human prey. She's got seventy-two hours to find the rogue, evade a city full of hunters, prove she's not responsible for the rogue, and keep the vampire council from killing her. All while sorting out an apprentice mage, a married ex-boyfriend shifter-hunter, and the vampire who made her. (from Amazon.ca)
(That's going to be in blockquote once this theme I am beta testing is fixed.... for now just pretend!)And only because I was so surprised and excited to find this second book in the bookstore I was in yesterday am I going to include it. I didn't even know it was scheduled for release any time soon and yet - there it was!
Suddenly Supernatural: Scaredy Katby Elizabeth Cody KimmelLittle, BrownNow that she’s acquired her Spirit sight, Kat discovers being followed around by a bunch of dead people can be pretty scary. So when Kat and her best friend explore an abandoned old house that leads to a search for a missing boy, Kat’s not sure if she wants to help – or even if she can. And when evidence surfaces that spirits are following Kat, even into her own room, she has to face down her own fear. Can Kat keep the undead in control? (from the author's website.)
I loved that first book so much I was thrilled to see this one in the store. I think I might have even squealed! And I wasn't going in there for me or to buy a book. Money is very tight now since the trip and I didn't need to buy more books to add to my ever-growing TBR pile. We were looking for book two of a series for my husband (which we found) and then I saw this... oops. I can't help it if the book itself is esthetically pleasing to me! It's bound in old-school Nancy Drew type binding. I love that kind of book binding. Curse you Little, Brown for releasing esthetically pleasing books when I shouldn't be buying anything! ;)* Disney trip photos, should you be at all interested, can be found linked on my blog, or here.
