Madeleine L'Engle Read-Along
While skimming through my Google reader over the holidays I came across this read-a-long on Kelly's blog, The Written World. Now, sometime in the summer I stumbled across a box set of the Time series, with A Wrinkle in Time being the first of 5 books. Sometime in 2009, I can't recall when, I had mooched this first book from Bookmooch because I felt like I wanted to re-read it. I originally read AWiT for a summer reading project, I think between 6th and 7th grade (which was terrifyingly long ago!). I found the box set after I had already received the little mass market paperback that I mooched, so I put it on my wishlist thinking I would pick it up around Christmas time.So when I saw this read-a-long post, well, I just felt like it was meant to be! The world wanted me to re-read A Wrinkle in Time and it wanted others to share in the joy of that read! This isn't really a challenge, though I am considering it as such. I have never read any of the books after AWiT and to be honest I didn't even know there WERE books after AWiT until maybe a couple of years ago.The schedule for this read-a-long is as follows:
Jan: A Wrinkle in TimeFeb: A Wind in the DoorMar: A Swiftly Tilting PlanetApr: Many WatersMay: An Acceptable Time
I am just about finished with the first book and I look forward to attempting to participate in the discussion. (I have never been very good at book analysis since I tend to read in feelings and colours and not words).Guidelines (stolen from Kelly's blog):
- You have until January 31st to finish the book.
- On January 15th Kelly will post a place to talk about spoiler-related things. Things you want to talk about but can't mention in your review.
- The reviews should aim to be finished on the last week of January because she wants to have questions that everyone answers in their posts and people need to have time to come up with them.
- For a sense of community she's hoping that people will come up with questions about the book. Hoping to have them all by the 20th so they can be posted and people can write their reviews. Even if you take the whole month to read the book I hope you will come up with questions. Send in a few so there are some variety. It isn't much fun if people send the same questions over and over again. How you choose to use the questions (and whether you choose to use all of them) is up to you.
- When I post the questions on the 20th, I will also post a place to post links to your reviews.
I think this will be fun! If you do too, head on over to The Written World and sign up!
