After my accidental purchase of the 3rd Gallagher Girls novel this week, I finally got it right and picked up this here second book in the Moon & Sun series.I think Holly Lisle is a brilliant fantasy writer. I also think she writes some of the best dragon characters in fantasy. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, I was thrilled to see her pop up in the Middle Grade section of the bookstore. This series will not disappoint, nor does it give you the impression that it was written for kids. I had to keep reminding myself that Genna is only 14 and her brother, 12.I was not as enchanted by this book as I was with the first ONLY BECAUSE it was description-heavy and I am a person who much prefers dialogue/action-heavy books. Holly Lisle writes description very well but I don't care how well something is written I will always find my eyes glazing over and my brain getting bored with what I am reading if it's descriptive.I did love the description and discovery of The Spire, though. When Genna and Catri were first delivered there I was almost in as much awe of the place as they were. And eventually as suspicious and creeped out by The Spire as they were.I love when you can see character development in all the characters in a novel. I found that each person that played a role in the story actually had depth and it makes the story all that more enjoyable and believable in my mind. What I am slightly concerned about is the lack of information that might hint to a third book in this series as the end of Book 2 doesn't exactly wrap anything up. I do hope that there will be another book in the series and I know I'll have a longer wait as I'll be waiting for the paperback version. (It's my curse!) However if I can find books 1 & 2 on the bargain tables I might end up picking them up in preparation for the next book. Who knows.Moon & Sun series
