Needby Carrie JonesI loved this book! LOVED it!I started it yesterday afternoon while waiting for my parents to pick me up and was halfway done by the time my father showed up. When I got back home I picked it up and read right until the end. After a series of disappointing reads, or dislike of characters, I was so happy to finally get into a book and want to know what was going to happen. I had a vague idea of what the book was supposed to be about and I knew something was going to happen, but I didn't know what, or who and everything was kept nicely vague so that I was scared to pin an idea on one character and then find out it was really the other! When Zara's father dies of a heart attack in front of her she sort of loses herself to the point that her mother sends her from Charleston, VA to a middle of nowhere town in Maine to live with her grandmother Betty.  Starting a new school in the middle of her Junior year isn't quite the thing that Zara needs to help her feel alive again, not to mention the cold and ice and snow! She soon befriends a few of her classmates and confides in them that she keeps seeing a man staring at her - the same man she saw the day her father died. Soon Zara and her friends Issy and Deryek (crap, blanking on the name spelling) and the insanely hot Nick are researching Pixies and weres and wondering what the heck is going on in their little town.I was hooked on the mystery of it all. I liked the characters (although I was slightly irritated by all of Zara's Amnesty International obsessions) and I loved the writing. The dialogue was witty and fun and the hints of sarcasm that came from Zara cracked me up.I live in Canada and I totally understand the weather complaints! They made me laugh and I have to agree with Zara about the stupid snow and ice.I will have to check out Carrie Jones' other books now! This was a fantastic read and I am so glad I splurged and picked it up. Not to mention how pretty the cover is.
