Out of My Pocket #12

Due to my book buying addiction I started this  feature on my blog where I post about the book(s) I bought that week. Not something I plan on having every week – though it seems to be turning out that way.  So here’s what I bought this week!

Previous OoMP posts can be found here!

Well, the two books I was planning on buying this week resulted in only one of the two purchased and then an additional 3 that were unplanned. I suck. And I would like to say that I really wish my bookstores would get Demon Inside IN STOCK soon because I have been looking forward to that one for a year!

Destined for an Early Graveby Jeaniene Frost

Her deadly dreams leave her in grave dangerSince half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they've fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it's time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.Gregor believes Cat is his and he won't stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

I'm so excited to read this one! The series has been growing on me and when I realized book 4 was out the last week of July I KNEW I had to get it!

Vacations from Hellby Various Artists

Life's a beach . . . and then you're undead? From light and funny to dark and creepy, these stories have something for everyone. You definitely won't want to leave this collection at home!in this must-have collection, five of today's hottest writers—Libba Bray (A Great and Terrible Beauty), Cassandra Clare (City of Bones), Claudia Gray (Evernight), Maureen Johnson (13 Little Blue Envelopes), and Sarah Mlynowski (Bras & Broomsticks)—tell supernatural tales of vacations gone awry. Lost luggage is only mildly unpleasant compared to bunking with a witch who holds a grudge. And a sunburn might be embarrassing and painful, but it doesn't last as long as a curse. Of course, even in the most hellish of situations, love can thrive. . . .

I enjoyed Prom Nights from Hell (and apparently never posted about it since it was pre-pre-book blog!) and so I knew I wanted to get the others in this "series". So I did.

Love is Hellby Various Artists

Sure, love is hell. But it,s totally worth it.In these supernatural stories by five of today's hottest writers—Melissa Marr (Wicked Lovely), Scott Westerfeld (Specials), Justine Larbalestier (Magic or Madness), Gabrielle Zevin (Elsewhere), and Laurie Faria Stolarz (Blue is for Nightmares)—love may be twisted and turned around, but it's more potent than ever on its quest to conquer all. From two students who let the power of attraction guide them to break the hard-and-fast rules of their world to the girl who falls hard for a good-looking ghost with a score to settle, the clever, quirky characters in this exciting collection will break your heart, then leave you believing in love more than ever.

And I got this one, too!

The Seduction of the Crimson Roseby Lauren Willig

Determined to secure another London season without assistance from her new brother-in-law, Mary Alsworthy accepts a secret assignment from Lord Vaughn on behalf of the Pink Carnation. She must infiltrate the ranks of the dreaded French spy, the Black Tulip, before he and his master can stage their planned invasion of England. Every spy has a weakness and for the Black Tulip that weakness is beautiful black-haired women—his "petals" of the Tulip. A natural at the art of seduction, Mary easily catches the attention of the French spy, but Lord Vaughn never anticipated that his own heart would be caught as well. Fighting their growing attraction, impediments from their past, and, of course, the French, Mary and Vaughn find themselves lost in a treacherous garden of lies. And as our modern-day heroine, Eloise Kelly, digs deeper into England's Napoleonic-era espionage, she becomes even more entwined with Colin Selwick, the descendant of her spy subjects.

I bought this because even though I read it in March 2008 (of course I might have completely forgotten that I did read it... thank goodness for LibraryThing! At least I knew I didn't OWN it!), I wanted to own my very own copy in paperback. I would have waited but I noticed on amazon that the covers are starting to change and I didn't like what I saw. So I made sure to get the original artwork. Heh.
