Out of My Pocket #4

Due to my book buying addiction I started  feature on my blog where I post about the book(s) I bought that week. Not something I plan on having every week - though it seems to be turning out that way.  So here’s what I bought this week!Wingsby Aprilynne Pike

Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings. In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever. (amazon.ca)

I really hadn't planned on buying anything this week, or for a while. Not only has my TBR pile grown to frightening proportions, I am seriously and dangerously low on funds. However! Since I have been waiting for this book to arrive in the store I frequent since April 24 (when the original pub date online said April 24 and THEN May 1) I wanted to get it when I saw that it had come in. After all, one would be put aside for me. My saving grace is that it came in on payday (yesterday) and I was able to shell out the cash that I didn't have the day before. But NOW I have to not buy anything. I have one more expensive vet trip coming up this month and property taxes due next month. Yes, all those fun real-life grown-up things that makes a girl wish she was a kid again. Sigh.Of course I started reading it last night while waiting to be picked up after a work function that had me leaving around 8:30 pm. Ugh. But I am loving the book so far... which brings me to this next point -Personal Update : It seems that with all that has happened since March with crazy work deadlines and the illness/passing of my grandmother, I appear to be suffering from some form of wicked fatigue and mental exhaustion. I've been getting home late most nights because traffic has been the pits and I have just enough energy to swallow some food for dinner before passing out asleep in bed. So I haven't been doing a ton of reading. I have tried, but then I just fall asleep a few pages in. This is not conducive to finishing a book in a decent amount of time. I am STILL reading the two books on my sidebar and I have one other that I had started at a doctor's appointment because I had it with me. So I technically have 4 or 5 books going at the same time in various places around my home and work. Heh. But I felt I should sort of explain my lack of updates lately. I don't want anyone to think I have abandoned my blog. I most certainly have not. I am hoping that after this weekend (which is a long weekend in Canada, though we are going to the cemetery for my grandmother's burial today) I will start to have more energy. Or, maybe in June, because I still have a ton of deadlines coming up at work, ending with Convocation on the 29th. Then one more big meeting and.. drat. Maybe July. Ha!Just, please don't leave me. ;)
