Plum Lovin'

Plum Lovin': A Stephanie Plum Between-the-Numbers Novelby Janet EvanovichWell, just in time for the release of her newest Between-the-Numbers novel, I have read the one from two Januaries ago. Now I am just missing the one from last year, Plum Lucky. I'll get to it - probably in December 2009. Ha.Now, I have been a self-proclaimed fan of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, however I found that I didn't quite care for this particular story. It didn't captivate me as they normally do, nor did it make me laugh. It might have had to do with the fact that there was one brief Ranger scene and even less Morelli. I like them. I don't remember who this Diesel character is and even if I did, I didn't like him.Of course I don't expect as much from the novellas as I do from the main books, but I seem to recall A Vision of Sugar Plums at least entertaining me.So because this Diesel character showed up, Stephanie Plum has to help him out since he's holding the bond fugitive she needs for another case and so she suddenly becomes a match maker to help out the fugitive. There were a couple of amusing scenes in the story, but mostly it just fell flat. And I am sorry to say that.Quite frankly, I really missed Ranger. I mean, who wouldn't?I picked this book up for $4.99 in the bargain bin at the bookstore. I always made a point of not buying the hard covers of the novellas since they tend to cost way too much for the amount of time I spend reading them. So I was happy to find it in the remainders. I am hoping to get Plum Lucky this way, too. I like to have a complete collection (which, according to my shiny new Library Thing account, I am missing books 7 & 8, which is very odd. So they might be in a box somewhere...)Perhaps one of my 2009 goals will be to see if Ms. Janet Evanovich would be kind enough to participate in my 5 Questions With... series? Hmm. I shall see if I can muster up the nerve to contact her through her website.Stephanie Plum series
