Promises in Death - an Eve Dallas novel
Promises in Deathby J.D. RobbI think this is one of my favourite in this series so far. I chuckled a lot and I enjoyed pretty much every second of this book.Mystery and murder-wise, it was a little dull. I didn't think the mystery part was all that interesting or exciting, but it was the appearance of all your old friends and recurring characters that really makes Promises in Death a terribly fun read.I might also have even done a little happy dance in my seat when Eve walked into the Down and Dirty and we got to meet up with Crack again. I LOVE Crack!The murder? A cop is killed and Eve needs to find out who and why.The rest of it? Louise's bridal shower - which of course puts Eve in the middle of all these wonderful women (and a baby!) and freaks her out way more than any gruesome murder ever could. I love these scenes. LOVE THEM! I totally share Eve's feelings about babies and pregnant women, too. I have even been known to say "Why are all these children here? Why aren't they in school?" only to be informed that it's either a) the weekend or b) summer. And I swear that I said that before I knew Dallas did! We're like kindred spirits she and I in a lot of ways.But I totally want to play Peabody in the movie. And the movie should be directed by Joss Whedon. And while I am in dreamland, I might as well add that Sarah McLachlan and I should record the soundtrack.Just sayin'.In Death Series
