Rambling Reader : Some Questions

Today at lunch I scurried over to my little bookstore as I saw online they  had one copy of Maria V. Snyder's new book, Storm Glass. While I was out with a friend she sort of herded me into the liquor store to pick up the alcohol part to add to my virgin Caesars (hey I LIKE them as virgins!). I came back to work with this little bag that had both the book and vodka snuggled up together and got laughed at. I said, hey, it's all I need!(Ok, so this tiny bottle will last me for many, many months as often as I drink actual alcohol and it's always a shock to my friends and coworkers when they see me around alcohol. I'm the one who chooses the cherry kool aid and orange juice over anything else. Oh, and I still drink milk with my dinner. Like a good girl!)Anyhow, on to my ponderings:

  1. Do I continue to do Out of My Pocket posts? Because I buy so many book and they aren't always in my mailbox. I think it's kind of a nice way to post about books I might have bought that week.
  2. So... then would I make it weekly? Or post as I buy the books? Because I am a huge book buyer. I think weekly. Maybe on Saturdays. Hmm. Thoughts?
  3. Wandering around the YA / YR sections of the bookstore on Sunday I came to this realization - almost ALL the books are out in hard cover right now. When did YA books start coming out all in hard cover? I mean, when I was a teen myself I had to save and save just to buy my little Fear Street paperbacks. Are The Young People richer these days? Do they have more money now than then? How can they afford these books? Or is it maybe that most YA is bought by people like me? More Adult than Young, with jobs and a passion for reading? I hate buying hard covers they are insanely priced. I just don't understand how publishers can justify publishing books in more expensive formats. It doesn't seem economical to me.

I guess that's it. Now it's time to watch Better Off Ted. I love this show.
