weekend away: the inn

We went to Ontario and all we got were these lousy colds. Seriously. Stupid Ontario and it's germs. I was truly clinging to the hope that this was just allergies, but by mid-afternoon when I still hadn't stopped coughing and sneezing, I had to admit defeat and call it a cold. Turns out Shawn (Welcome back to work, Shawn! You'll be working a double shift today and staying here until midnight!) is sick too, from the email I just got from him. I am pretty sure these colds were one of the souvenieres we took back from Upper Canada Village on Saturday as it was cold and wet and dispite the fun we had, very good weather to bring on a cold.Don't get me wrong, my misery tonight is not a indicator of how our weekend went. We had a marvelous time! Just wonderful! We needed that weekend away so badly after everything that has been going on. And it really made a difference! I am hoping that it won't be another 2 years before we can go away together again! [you know, a honeymoon would be nice at some point, too!]The Inn we stayed at wasn't as quaint and charming as we had thought it was going to be, but it was still lovely! It was actually a lot bigger than it sounded like it was going to be. And our room was stated to be non-smoking, and yet, we were in the smoking section of the Inn. Even though we don't smoke you can still smell the smoke in the room and the hallway from the other rooms. It made me feel rather lousy and that's one of the reasons I thought my allergies were so bad. But Shawn has this too now and he's not allergic to smoke! So now on to the first half of the photos! Tonight's topic: The Inn.kingsized cement bed This is the amazing Kingsized Bed of Cement that we didn't sleep on. Well, we tried to sleep on but couldn't. I would like to tell you we came home early in the morning on Sunday so we could take a nap because we were in immense pain and exhausted from tons of acrobatic sexual exploits.. but that would be very far from the truth. The first thing we did was plop onto the bed. I have never seen a kingsized bed before and yet... we didn't plop. It was way more of a THUD, OW! I didn't even make a dent in the bed and Shawn barely did either. The bed did not move it was the hardest thing I have ever attempted to sleep on in my life. We seriously contemplated sleeping on the floor because the carpet seemed softer. So here we are with sore backs and sleepy. But still.. the room! Wow! When we finally buy our own home we are so making sure the bedroom is large enough for a king bed, yo!After the 10 second awe of the bed wore off, I turned my head to the right and was instantly enamoured with the jacuzzi! I of course was very mature about the whole thing and immediately jumped in to the tub and started dancing around and singing, "Jac-cuzzi! Jac-cuzzi! woot! woot!"jacuzzi! Rock star in the JAK-CUZZI! JAK-CUZZI!jak-cuzzi! Such grace! Such form! In the JACUZZI! woot! woot!french doors These are the french doors that lead to the bedroom part of the suite (the ONLY suite in this place is only in the smoking section of the Inn! Bummer!). Shawn isn't actually asleep here. :Pvcr??? Dude! We had a VCR in the bedroom! A VRC! What is this? 1985?? We had two small TVs (one in the livingroom part and one in the bedroom) and in the bedroom next to the tiny TV was this VRC! I couldn't believe it! I had to take a photo just to prove to myself I didn't imagine it!We had only a couple of problems with the room, the evil cement bed and this one other thing:small door Shawn was bigger than the bathroom door. Oops! The bathroom itself was very tiny. Bathrooms are very important to me and I do not like a tiny bathroom. If I found it small, how do you think Shawn felt??room This was out sitting room. To the right of the couch (off camera) was another little chair like the one next to the fridge (I was very happy to see the fridge! Had I known it was there I would have brought milk!) Off camera to the left was the large armoir thing with the TV in it. Crummy cable stations, but hey, it was something to watch at night!I, of course, really, really loved the jacuzzi!should have slept here! (Had I thought of it, I would have slept there! It was much more comfortable than the bed!!)wheee! CHEESE! From the JAK-CUZZI!! heeheelove love love the jacuzzi! Really, really loved that jacuzzi! It was such a novelty!!shawn in the jacuzzi Hey, even Shawn fit in this tub! It was a miracle! He let me take a bunch of photos of him too! This is the only one that I'm posting because he looks soooooo cute. heehee!grr Grumpy in the jacuzzi! I kept asking Shawn to take my photo, but then he got all supermodel-photographer on me and kept snapping shots and asking me to pose. I'm only posting this because I think I look kind of thin on my side and it makes me happy. ha!mcintosh country inn And this, my friends is the side of the Inn we were staying in (and a little corner of the trunk of our car on the bottom right). The lower two windows on the left side there *point* was our room. That's it for now.. tomorrow or later this week I shall post the photos from Upper Canada Village. I'm too cold and sick and tired to edit more photos tonight. We did have a really nice time and the next time we go somewhere we will take the dogs. I missed them. and on a kingsized bed, there is room for all of us!!OH! And a funny story.. we had a package that included breakfast or first morning there and when we walked into the restauraunt that morning the little serving girl came and greeted us and said "are you with the quilters?" HA HA! Because we so totally look like quilters, especially Shawn you know! She quickly changed her greeting once she saw the bewildered looks on our faces and we burst out laughing. She was a great server too we went back the next morning (because the breakfast was AWESOME) and made sure we sat in her section.
