what? doesn't <em>your</em> dog eat out of $60 tupperware?
Oh, Winxy-Jinxy-Jinx. Whatever am I to do with you? Sometimes you really take the cake (not mine of course, because as much as I can love anyone, I do not share cake. Unless it's chocolate and then someone else can have it, not you though because you're a dog and chocolate would kill you. I love you too much to kill you. Though sometimes...)
What? What's that over there? I don't think I like it!
So Jinx's New Thing the last few months is that he has suddenly become terrified of his food bowl. Yes. I know. Mornings and evenings are spent trying to coax this 3-year old dog to eat and that it's ok because look! Yummy food! With yogurt garnish! YUM! Who wouldn't want that? (In the dog variety, that is. I'll pass, thankyouverymuch).I noticed a few weeks ago that when Jinx's dog tags hit the metal food bowl he jumps back, scared and then cowers around for a while, lies down just out of reach of the bowl and stares suspiciously at it. This is both amusing and sad at the same time, not to mention time consuming. Time is NOT something Shawn and I have in the mornings before work, therefore quite frustrating. He got a shiny new rabies tag yesterday (bright red, it's quite becoming) and it isn't as large as the one he had previously, though his other two tags do hang low enough to hit the edge of the bowl while eating (or drinking). But come on!Jinx will eat about half of his food or so. The second half is too deep in the bowl, I guess and therefore too dangerous to eat. That's when the bowl makes these scary CLANGING noises! Eek! Can't have that! He will only eat if you a) hold the bowl at an angle for him b) hand-feed him (yeah, right!) or as in the case of last night in my frustration c) dump the blasted food on the floor and toss the bowl onto the couch. He was fine with floor-food. Go figure. So this morning I thought creatively. I didn't really want to spend an hour waiting for him to finish his stupid breakfast so I looked in my plastic container cupboard. I was trying to find something big enough yet small enough to put his food in (not much food, big head - sadly I don't think there's much in the big head at times). I ended up with a happy green container from the $65 Tupperware set my mother got me at Christmas. To be honest, I have no idea what this particular container would be used for since it's about as wide as a normal bowl, but only about two inches deep. I have no clue what would be stored in that sort of thing. But it worked as a food bowl. And Jinx (mostly) ate and though he seemed suspicious of the new bowl in front of him, he seemed happy that it didn't make any scary noises. It does have a new non-doggie type smell, so I think that threw him off, but since I'm not using that container for anything else, I suppose it'll make a good dog bowl for now. And it's dishwasher safe! This was another reason I wished I had my camera with me this morning. The look on Annie's face as she watched Jinx take a bite-back up-look confused-drop the food on the carpet-look at me-look at the bowl-look out the window (gotta make sure the squirrels aren't invading!) and then eat the food from the floor and walk back over to the bowl and start again was priceless. However had I gone down to the basement to get the camera the moment would have been lost and Jinx would be too distracted to eat and Annie, sensing the perfect opportunity, would sneak over and eat his food herself. I just looked back at her, after scratching Jinx's head and telling him he was good-stupid boy for the fifth time and said "I don't know, Annie. He's just weird."
