At Grave's End
At Grave's Endby Jeaniene FrostYou know, I always think I dislike this series and yet I always pick the latest one up and I read it cover to cover in a whoosh. And then I think about how I didn't dislike it, although I have problems with the characters and such. In the end, Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series is one of my Safety Blanket purchases. She's an auto-buy, even if I don't rush out and get the book on its release day.Over all I really quite liked this book. I find the characters less, I don't know, fake? Annoying? Whereas I very closely hated Bones in the first book, I liked him a lot in this one. Cat is still entertaining to me, although I often feel like I should smack her upside the head because she can be an idiot a lot of the times.Never once have I had an issue with the writing in the books, and in fact this one holds true to my track record with the series. I liked the second book better than the first and I think this third one was the best of the bunch! It's nice to have an author and story improve as it moves forward and not get worse! So way to go, Ms Frost!I already have the next book on my wishlist. Safety Blanket, people, Safety Blanket! I have a guess as to what the focus of the next book will be due to a plot point in this story, but I am not sure if it will be the main story line. Hmm. See, I have to get it just to satisfy my curiosity!Summary stolen from the product description because I can't think of a way to write one without spoiling things!
It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield's life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she's successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat's worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover's finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger. As if that wasn't enough, a woman from Bones's past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat's about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she's learned as a special agent won't help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.
And wouldn't it be nice if my blockquote was fixed? I'm still waiting for the update to my beta theme - sorry! If you could humour me by just pretending that the summary was in blockquote and it worked, I would appreciate it. ;)Night Huntress Series
