Cover Reveal! Unbreak My Heart by Melissa Walker
I want to start this off by saying I am not a Contemporary Fiction fan pretty much 98% of the time. Melissa Walker's books have managed to sneak in that 2% and I have never been disappointed by one - even if I thought it was going to be a mushy, gushy romance.Let's not forget that the woman herself is just a fantastic person and one of the many reasons I am thankful for this blog. Without it I would not have gotten to know her.So, I am biased, pretty much because I love everything about her (in a non-creepy, restraining order needed, kind of way). Of course when Melissa asked if anyone wanted to help share in the cover reveal for her newest book (coming in May 2012), I was all, ME! ME! PICK ME!Here you have it folks! The lovely cover for Unbreak My Heart. You can visit Melissa's blog for a larger image. I'm too OCD about fancying up the cover art that I couldn't bring myself to just post the cover without all the other hoopla I do.Here's the summary:
Sophomore year broke Clementine Williams’s heart. She fell for her best friend’s boyfriend and long story short: he’s excused, but Clem is vilified and heads into summer with zero social life. Enter her parents’ plan to spend the summer on their sailboat. Normally the idea of being stuck on a tiny boat with her parents and little sister would make Clem break out in hives, but just floating away sounds pretty good right now. Then she meets James at one of their first stops along the river. He and his dad are sailing for the summer, and he’s just the distraction Clem needs. Can he break down Clem’s walls and heal her broken heart?Told in alternating chapters that chronicle the year that broke Clem’s heart and the summer that healed it, Unbreak My Heart is a wonderful dual love story that fans of Sarah Dessen, Deb Caletti, and Susane Colasanti will flock to. (from the catalogue, as emailed to me by Melissa!)
One of the cool things about Melissa's YA novels is that they always become more than you think they'll be. I fall in love with her characters and their real, raw personalities. I fall in love with the flow of the stories and the many different pieces of life that just sort of happen but people don't always note. She captures life as it happens in real time and somehow makes something you might consider mundane so much more enchanting.Am I looking forward to Unbreak My Heart even though it looks to be about romance and is most definitely a contemporary novel? You bet your bippy I am.Happy Cover Reveal Day!
