dog park and skylines
Well, after a miserable week and a miserable rainy, cold weekend, the sun finally poked through around 4PM this afternoon. Annie had been oddly anxious this weekend and seemed to do a lot of staring at me and Shawn and getting excited if we got up and walked near the front door. I joked that she wanted to go back to the dog park. Shawn didn't think so.This was our third visit to the park. The first one was too hot and sunny, the second one (this past Wednesday) was too late and it got dark fast and my stomach chose that moment to rebel forcing us to return home almost as soon as we got there. This afternoon however? It was just right. It's amazing what a couple of weeks can do in the spring. The grass is green and the trees are budding. It was windy and a little cold when the sun went behind the clouds, but the dogs LOVED it. Annie especially.Annie took off right from the car. (On leash!) She pulled me right to the gate of the park and was already bounding before we even entered the enclosure! There were very few dogs at this time and the ones that were there were huge and friendly.Jinx tends to spend most of his time sniffing the pick-nick tables rather than looking at the other dogs. But these two wanted to play with him. The Husky was beautiful and she was very vocal. She didn't bark at the dogs or people in an aggressive manner, it was more like she was talking to us. She reminded me of Diefenbaker from the show Due South. (I loved that show!)I know this one is blurry, but it's because Annie ran right to me when I crouched down to take her photo. She was just so HAPPY at the park tonight. I love how I have an action shot of my exceptionally inactive dog. This is Jinx with his new friend Merlin. Merlin is a 9-month old Bernese. He loved Annie. And Annie LOVED him. He loved Annie a little TOO much however and then he turned his attempt at affection to Jinx. We had to explain that just because Jinx ACTS like a girl, doesn't mean he is one.Annie LOVED this dog. I don't know what it is, but in the three visits we've had Annie and the Bernese Mountain Dogs just gravitate towards each other (different dogs each time). Maybe they are kindred spirits in some way? I don't know. But Annie will pick them out at the park and waddle on over wagging her tail at them. Strange. The fact that Jinx is terrified of my in laws' year-old Standard Schnauzer (who is very sweet, just very active) and yet feels totally comfortable playing with a dog twice his size is rather embarrassing. Or just odd. Jinx is very odd.And that concludes my dog park recap. However I have some skylines to share! (I know you're all riveted. I promise I will be interesting again soon. I'm just in a rut right now.)This was the sky from the dog park on Wednesday:I am in love with the colours. I couldn't get any of the dogs of course but this park is an excellent spot for skylines. ;)This was the skyline this afternoon:There's something about the clouds and sunlight that gets me.However THIS was what was right over our heads -Rather ominous, huh? It blew over, but it felt like it was just pressing down on us.
