I went into this book thinking is was a paranormal sort of deal, but it isn't. I don't know what it was but something about the fact that London can only recall the future and not her past just hooked me in this story. I couldn't put the book down. Even when I had to (I hate that I can't read on the bus!) (also, I hate that I have to WORK while at work!) I was always thinking about it. I almost regretted starting the book on a weekday because there were too many distractions from being able to just sit and absorb the novel in one gulp as I wanted to.Even the romance angle in the story between London and Luke. Luke was a generally nice guy and I found myself liking him a lot. It is rare that I like the male romantic lead in a novel, especially YA, these days. He seemed to care a lot for London and it showed. Their relationship was complicated by her lack of past memory but it still grew noticeably and felt real.But this book wasn't all about romance, it was quite suspenseful and gripping. I was just fascinated by the idea that London would recall the future as we might recall the past. Not outright fortune-telling, but in pieces and bits, some clearly, some vague. It was just so cool to read about. Something refreshing and original out there in a sea of monotony.I loved that London had to figure out, through her future glimpses, what happened in her past. Why she couldn't remember the day before after she went to sleep. The mystery in her life was both suspenseful and in the end, normal. It was pretty fun figuring out what was going on.There was just something about this book that truly captured my attention and my heart. I am looking forward to reading more by Cat Patrick (and, of course, I like that we share a first name. heh).My one tiny irk when it came to the story was not knowing why London couldn't remember Luke. I don't know if I missed something while I was reading, but I don't feel like this was ever explained. She couldn't remember him because she couldn't see him in her future and I don't know why. Did I skip something while reading, maybe? I can do that with my dyslexia, but I know that I was trying to keep very close tabs on what London was figuring out because I was so interested in why she couldn't remember Luke. Anyone?This book was loved even more because it's the UK edition. It was the last one I was able to purchase before the Book Depository blocked all UK editions of books from Canadian customers (US too, I think). I am very sad about that and frustrated because it was the best source to fill my UK book addiction. I will have to think of something else as I hate shipping fees on Amazon (of course Amazon is buying Book Depository, so I guess that's why the blockages...) I love this cover and I just love the format, shape and feel of UK books over North American ones (also, no hard covers!!!). I do have a wonderful friend who is willing to help me out with UK book purchases, but it's still frustrating and not fair.
