In My Mailbox #12

The Story Siren hosts this feature and I end up adding a ton of books to my wishlist every week.Imagine my surprise this past Monday when while I was home sick a huge Canpar truck pulled up outside my house! This was before I managed to scald myself with tea. It was an interesting day.So, in the mail, for review this week I got:This Charming Manby Marian Keyes

Four very different women. One awfully charming man. And the dark secret that binds them all ...Journalist Grace wants the inside story on Paddy de Courcy's engagement and thinks Lola holds the key to it. Grace knew Paddy a long time ago. But why can't she forget him?Grace's sister, Marnie, might have the answer but she also has issues with the past. Her loving husband and beautiful daughters are wonderful, but they can't take away memories of her first love: a certain Paddy de Courcy. What will it take for Marnie to be able to move on?Alicia Thornton is Paddy's wife-to-be. Determined to be the perfect wife, Alicia would do anything for her fiancé. But does she know the real Paddy? Lola has every reason to be shocked by the news that charismatic politician Paddy de Courcy is getting married-because although she's his girlfriend, she definitely isn't the bride-to-be. Heartbroken, Lola flees the city for a cottage by the sea. But will Lola's retreat prove as idyllic as she hopes? (amazon.ca)

The Opposite of Loveby Julie Buxbaum

Emily Haxby can't explain why she abruptly ends her happy relationship as her boyfriend is about to propose. But as she begins to unravel, she knows she must take control if she's to become who she's always wanted to be. Written with authority, grace, and wisdom, The Opposite of Love heralds the debut of a remarkable talent in contemporary fiction. (chapters.indigo.ca)

Although, neither of these two books are really my cup of tea, I have always been curious about the Marian Keyes novels. Working in a retail bookstore as long as I did, I would always see books by her but because I am not a huge fan of "chick lit" I never picked one up. So I am sort of looking forward to trying this one out. I am not sure about the second book, but I have to say, the cover you find online is not the one I have and it's bugging the heck out of me! haha! I am so lame! I'll have to try and scan in my cover before I review this book (which will be a while down the road) it is similar but I think I like the one I have in real life.Ruby Gloom’s Guide to Friendshipby Mighty Fine Inc.Well it wasn't in my mailbox at home, but it was hand delivered to me at work from a friend! It's a cute novelty-type fun little read and Ruby Gloom is awesome. I might have mentioned how the theme song is awesome a couple of times in my review, but I don't make any promises! What I didn't mention in the review was how this book smells. It smells like new shower curtains, or new beach blow-up toys. Ha! I know it's likely the black ink (and there's a lot of that) but I love the smell! So in all, it was a good week in books and I didn't even have to try very hard!
