Once a Witch

Once a Witchby Carolyn MacCulloughLook at me churning out the reviews! I have read more books in the last 3 days than I have in the last 2 months. Ha! I was trying to reach a goal of 100 books for 2009, but this one only brings me to 92 (and that's with counting the Simon's Cat book, which is technically cheating I think). From the first page, and I kid you not, I LOVED Tamsin. MacCullough has a wicked sense of humour and is very adept at writing excellent sarcasm. And I love me some sarcasm. I couldn't put this book down, and sadly I had to since I had to eat lunch and stuff today, but I knew I was going to finish this book today.I was also wrapped up in the action. As Tamsin tried to save her family and sister with the help of Gabriel I was right there with her as she raced against time. Although the plot was slightly predictable, I still enjoyed the story quite a bit. I love fast-paced stories with a sense of humour. This is certainly one of those.I don't see any information on the author's website but the book ends with serious potential for a sequel and I certainly hope there is. The author has many other books out as well, although I don't know if I want to read them. On one hand she is a superb writer, on the other hand, this book caught my eye being about witches (and you all know how I feel about witches!) and was slightly more my style. MacCullough's other books look a little too "real" for my tastes.I'd like to thank Yan for gifting me with this ARC since I was seriously wanting to read the book and impatient for the release (of course I finally read it once it actually was released, which is sort of backwards on my part). I do hope there will be more of Tamsin's story released in the future because I am going to buy it without even thinking about it!
