Out of My Pocket #23 // In My Mailbox #28
Due to my book buying addiction I started this feature on my blog where I post about the book(s) I bought that week. Not something I plan on having every week – though it seems to be turning out that way. So here’s what I bought this week!In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren … and I end up adding a ton of books to my wishlist every week.

It was a lovely week of things because I received all the books I ordered with Christmas gift cards! I wasn't expecting all of them to show up this week, but they did! So this is a combined post, even though the money spent wasn't *technically* Out of My Pocket.Amazon.ca Order:Firespell (Dark Elite #1)by Chloe Neill
As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building. The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of a firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet… (goodreads.com)

I will likely have this one finished before I go back to work on Monday. I hope. By golly this is a beautiful cover. The Books of Bayern Box-Setby Shannon Hale
The first three books in the highly acclaimed Books of Bayern series are now available in a beautiful boxed set. It all began with the retelling of a Grimm's fairy tale in The Goose Girl, and now the world of Bayern is rich with fairy tales all its own. Fans will be delighted with this package that features their favorite Bayern characters as well as a sneak peek of the newest book: Forest Born.
I have read The Goose Girl and loved it so I couldn't resist when I saw this box set appear in the Fall.Chapigo order: Iron Kissedby Patricia Briggs
When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to shapeshifting car mechanic Mercy Thompson to clear his name, whether he wants her to or not. And she'll have to choose between the two werewolves in her life-whether she wants to or not.
Took me a while to pick this one up after having read the first two, but I can't wait to read it! Dream Girlby Lauren Mechling
CLAIRE VOYANTE HAS been having strange visions ever since she can remember. But the similarity between her name and her talents is purely coincidental. The name is French, and unlike the psychics on TV, she can’t solve crimes or talk to the dead. Whenever Claire follows her hunches, she comes up empty—or ends up in pretty awkward situations. But that all changes on Claire’s 15th birthday, when her grandmother, Kiki—former socialite, fashion icon, and permanent fixture at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel—gives her something a little more extraordinary than one of her old cocktail dresses: a strange black-and-white onyx cameo on a gold chain. It’s not long before Claire’s world becomes a whole lot clearer. And a whole lot more dangerous.
I have read and reviewed this one already, too! The title will link you to the review. The Ruby Key (Moon & Sun Book 1)Holly Lisle

Now, the siblings must embark upon a journey along the Moonroads, and bring back the key to Letrin's downfall.
I enjoyed Holly Lisle's adult fantasy books and was excited when I realized she was the author of this book that caught my eye over a year ago. I waited forever for the paperback to come out and then my store never stocked it, so I bought it online! And this isn't book-related, but it's a contest win! I discovered the A Bit O'Shine blog through RJ Anderson's blog over the summer. Molly makes the most beautiful crafts and jewellery and when she hosted a contest right before Christmas I came out of lurking just to enter. How I could resist a potential awesome jewellery piece from her etsy shop? I was so happy when I saw that I was one of the lucky winners and I received these beautiful Winterberry earrings!
I have already worn them once this week. Thanks SO much, Molly! And I'm also excited because I know my copy of The 13 Curses has shipped from The Book Depository so I should be getting it this coming week so I'll get to IMM again next weekend!
