Rambling Reader: BEA 2010

In about 43 days from today I will be on a train to NYC. Why? Well, because I am going to attend my first ever Book Expo America (BEA)! I am so very excited and at the same time very nervous. Why nervous? Well, aside from this being my very first trip to NYC by myself (no family or classmates to accompany me!) I'm also a little unsure about what to expect and DO at BEA.I have been reading posts on other blogs that have helpful information, but I find it all a little much to take in. So, I am nervous. Also, NYC is BIG. I might live in a fairly large city myself, but I know this one and I know what parts of it scare me and which don't.I have roommates, I have a hotel room booked (which is good to have when you have roommates), I have bought my train tickets and I have saves up exactly zero dollars to take this trip with. Go, me. That wasn't the plan. The plan was to have a ton of money put aside for this trip by now. Life didn't work out that way. I think my credit card will be my best friend on this trip. And I need to find out if my roomie will take Airmiles as payment for my half of the room. (Just kidding! Maybe.)I have a cousin who lives nearby and I hope to meet up with her for dinner at the end of the week I am there. My father is originally from Brooklyn, NY and although I never did get the dual citizenship I have always wanted, it's nice to have family when you're in an unfamiliar place. Even if it's family you don't really know.I hope to have a couple of lunches or dinners with other friends I have made through blogging, outside of the socializing that will be done during BEA itself.I am not going to the Book Blogger Convention on the Friday. I know many others are, but I just couldn't afford it. So I will be spending my Friday packing up for my train the next morning, meeting my cousin for dinner somewhere and doing, I don't know what. (Meeting others? Napping? Getting mugged?)I am VERY excited about this trip. I have had the time booked off at work since LAST MAY when it was going on. It's generally a difficult time of year in my office as we have Convocation happening at that time, however our faculty's convocation is the start of June, so it turns out I am not missing it at all!So my question to you is is, are you going? If you are, let me know in comments, or using the contact form above *points*. If you're not going and yet you live nearby(ish) let me know, too! (That is if you want to meet up or anything.)
