Um... holy cow! That online summary is even worse than the one for the second book! Dude. Well, I guess it limits spoilers? The hell? Seems sort of silly to blockquote one line. Ah, well.Moving on.I was so excited for this book that I actually asked my pub rep about it. Yes, I *asked*. That is a very rare and awkward thing for me. Mostly I wanted to know if I was going to be lucky enough to have this book randomly show up on my doorstep like the second book did. What I wasn't expecting was a finished copy to arrive (the day before all mail stopped being delivered, too! SO LUCKY!) so this was very exciting to me.I started the book not really knowing what to expect. I had forgotten that each book is actually told from the point of view of a different character. Since Alan is on the cover of this book I guess I thought it was going to be him, so I was surprised when I realized it was Sin. If it was Sin, why isn't she on the cover? And if Sin isn't white and Mae is but she has pink hair - who the heck is on the cover of Demon's Covenant? I am suddenly thinking that I like the UK covers best for this series, so I might just buy them and give these three away. heh.So it turns out that I don't really like Sin. At least I don't find her as entertaining as I do Mae and Jaime and Nick and Alan. Or Jaime and Nick. The humour that I loved in the second and then first books wasn't there until very close until the end. I still didn't like Sin much by the end of the book but I had grown to appreciate her story and situation. She didn't grab me as much as the others did with their stories, so I know we won't be going out on weekends and being Besties and whatnot. I didn't hate her though like I thought I was going to. I missed Mae and I missed Alan as he was with Nick. I found even Alan's sense of humour lacking for most of the book. What I truly enjoyed about the writing in this series were the snarky one-liner type replies in conversations. What did I think of the conclusion to this series? I am not sure. Things were sort of jumbled together near the end and I had to reread some stuff. I hasn't been that long (ok, a year) since I read the other books but I guess I forgot more about the plot than I thought I did. I still enjoyed the story arc but this wasn't as captivating a book for me as the first two.The last fourth of the book had me stuck like glue to the pages. Once everyone was back together again the wit and snark was flying all around. I LOVE Jaime's character and I think his lack of presence in the first 3/4ths of the book was part of what I was missing. I sort of like how the Goblin Market was changed, but I wish...well, something that I can't say on my blog lest I spoil things for you. But there was one thing about it that I would have liked to have gone differently and I can't even say how because, you know, SPOIL!I really, really, really want Sarah Rees Brennan to write something else now. As long as it's not werewolves, vampires or zombies, I will buy it instantly. She creates very unique and interesting paranormal worlds and she obviously has a brilliant sense of humour that comes across in her writing.Overall, this series is fun and different. But my preference for the books fall in the same order that I read them - second, first, third. I do think that Goodreads needs a better summary for the books on their pages though. ;)Demon's Lexicon trilogy
