this is the life

Towels hanging on the line. Jinx protecting the yard from rogue squirrels. Lounge chair in the shade (so I don't turn into a lobster!) with a book in my lap. This is how life should be on a daily basis.Sadly, I must work for a living and I rarely get Friday afternoons like the one I had yesterday. I'm using up vacation days that I have to take before our year turns over at the end of May and I couldn't have picked a nicer day than Friday, April 23, 2010.I did a bunch of yard work in the morning, protected our yard from the many neighbourhood skunks (which is a bad thing to have in your neighbourhood if you have two dogs!), mowed the lawn for the first time this year and then just sat outside for a while and read.It was relaxing and peaceful and I was very content. The only thing missing was missing was a tall glass of lemonade. I have since put that on the grocery list for our next trip out.Days like yesterday are needed for my mental health and remind me that there are GOOD things in life. Things that make me happy. Even with all the other crap that's going on, you need to stop for a second and find that moment of peace that is buried under everything else. That moment of peace is worth it when you find it.This sappy interlude was brought to you by the letters C, A and T and the number 13.
