Salvation in Death - an Eve Dallas novel

Salvation in Deathby J. D. RobbI still adore this series, even after 27 books. How does Nora Roberts do it? Does she have ghostwriters? Either way, she still writes an entertaining Eve Dallas mystery!Salvation in Death focuses on the death of a Catholic Priest and therefore around religion and the Catholic Church. I have to admit that with that first chapter I was wary. When people bring religion into their stories sometimes it gets preachy or a little overwhelming, but Robb did a good job of keeping the story more about the people and not about the religion.I also had a moment at the beginning where I put the book down and had to think about whether or not I wanted to continue to read it. I know Eve is a tough character and one who doesn't always care about what she's stepping on to get the job done. But I was actually taken aback at first at her disrespect for the Church. I was born and raised Catholic myself, and though I am probably the poster child for "lapsed" I still respect the church and religions as a whole. I wouldn't walk into a Church, Temple, or, um... any other place of worship and just disrespect the people who work there or believe. And I found it hard to read when Dallas went into the Church all "this is just any other place, I don't care if this is sacred, I'm taking it as evidence." Normally she does respect others and their beliefs, but this time, even though she didn't know anything about it, she just ignored it.I was surprised at my reaction, I really was. But that's neither here nor there. The story doesn't focus on what's right or wrong religion-wise. It's about a murder, two actually, and finding out who people really are. There is very little secondary character action in this book. Names are tossed in for one or two mentions just to say they were mentioned, I guess. There wasn't as much Peabody either, which was strange. She was there, just less, chatty I guess. I still love her and want to play her in the movie. ;)It wasn't one of the strongest In Death novels by far, but it was a comforting read. I really need to pick up the entire series to keep for myself. Mostly I borrowed the earlier ones from a friend. But I think I'd like to own the entire series so I could read them  from book 1 to current to reconnect with the characters and their development. In Death Series
